Nissewaard is a municipality on the island of Voorne-Putten in the south of the province of South Holland , the Netherlands . It was created on January 1, 2015 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Bernisse and Spijkenisse . The new municipality currently has 84,803 inhabitants on an area of ​​98.73 km², of which 15.5 km² is water.
