The Rijksweg 15 is a Dutch highway from the port of Rotterdam ( Maasvlakte ) until after Nijmegen . The road between Maasvlakte and Rotterdam is called the N15, after which it becomes the A15 motorway. She walks past Tiel and Gorinchem . At Nijmegen it meets the A325 at the Ressen motorway triangle .

It was originally planned that Rijksweg 15 should lead to Enschede . However, because the motorway is not continuous near Arnhem (15 km of motorway are missing), the second part was called Rijksweg 18 (A18 / N18).

The A15 is part of the E31 between the Knooppunt Ridderkerk and the Knooppunt Valburg .

The A15 forms an important link between the port of Rotterdam and the German Ruhr area . It is also an important import and export axis; You can see that in the comparatively high percentage of trucks.

Connection Knooppunt Ressen - Zevenaar

There are plans to connect the A15 with the A12. In 2005 two building proposals were submitted; concrete planning was not expected before 2010. On June 22, 2011 it was announced that the A15 in Bemmel will be continued. The Dutch Minister for Infrastructure and the Environment, Melanie Schultz van Haegen , had signed agreements with the province of Gelderland and the cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen, which are participating in the construction project. Accordingly, the project is part of a toll route. The construction costs are estimated at 1 billion euros, of which the state will take over 385 million and the provinces and cities 372 million. Construction work is scheduled to begin in 2018 ^{[out of date]} .

Another alternative would be to improve and expand the existing A50, A12 and N325 roads. The province of Gelderland is currently examining the proposals. The cost of building the first alternative is estimated at EUR 750 million. In addition, a tunnel would have to be built under the Pannerdensch Kanaal on the route. The Rijkswaterstaat estimates the cost of this at around 375 million euros.
