The A27 at Amelisweerd

The A27 motorway (Rijksweg) is a motorway in the Netherlands . It begins at Knooppunt Sint-Annabosch in the south of Breda and joins the A6 at Knooppunt Almere . The last section was opened to traffic between Huizen and Almere in 1999. During the holiday months, the route is used by many locals to go on vacation to Belgium and France, which is why the volume of traffic is particularly high at this time. Especially on the section between the Gorinchem junction and the bridge over the Lek , traffic jams regularly form , as the motorway there is only four lanes. However, this section is to be expanded to six lanes in the coming years.

Many holidaymakers from France and Belgium use the motorway as a connection to the north of the Netherlands, especially towards Friesland.

In 2006, the section between Gorinchem and Noordeloos was extended by one lane. The bridge at Keizersveer, which had already been renewed in 1978 , had to be renovated. Later the piece was extended to Knooppunt Everdingen.
