A 7 on the final dike

The Rijksweg 7 is a Dutch Rijksweg that runs as the Autosnelweg A7 from Zaandam (Zaandam intersection with the A8 ) to the German border near Bad Nieuweschans . It represents the Dutch part of the European route 22 .

Between Den Oever and Kornwerderzand the road passes over the Afsluitdijk (Afsluitdijk).

At Sneek the road follows the ring road, also at Groningen . Both sections are referred to as "N7". At Groningen the N7 is not free of intersections.

At Joure there is a motorway triangle with the A6 . At Heerenveen there is a motorway junction with the A32 . In Groningen the A28 ends at the Julianaplein triangle . The N 46 begins at the triangle Euvelgunne , also in Groningen.

After the Bad Nieuweschans exit , the A 7 runs directly along the German-Dutch border. This results in the curiosity of a gas station and rest area ( Bunderneuland ), which is located on the edge of a Dutch motorway on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany, so that the gas station prices customary in Germany have to be paid there. After leaving the facility, you drive back onto the Dutch A 7 before, after less than a kilometer, the 4.5 km long German A 280 connects to the German A 31 , an important north-south connection between the Ruhr area and the North Sea .

Rijksweg 7 has a length of 242 km (including 5.8 km N7). The entire motorway is part of the European route 22 . Since the beginning of March 2011, a speed limit of 130 km / h has been in effect between Wognum and Zurich . This tests whether this speed limit is suitable for the Dutch motorways.

The largest towns along the Rijksweg are Zaandam , Purmerend , Hoorn , Sneek , Joure , Heerenveen , Drachten , Leek , Groningen , Hoogezand-Sappemeer and Winschoten .
