The Rijksweg 28 (abbreviation: RW 28 ) - Short form: Autosnelweg 28 (abbreviation: A28 ) - is a Dutch highway that from Utrecht to Groningen runs. The motorway begins in Utrecht about one kilometer west of the Rijnsweerd junction and runs via Amersfoort , Harderwijk, Wezep, Zwolle , Meppel, Hoogeveen and Assen to the Groningen ring road. The A28 has a length of 187.4 km. It is considered the most important north-west connection in the Netherlands.

At Knooppunt Hoevelaken, the A28 crosses the A1 . The motorway runs along the Veluwe from Harderwijk to Wezep . At Knooppunt Hattemerbroek, shortly before Zwolle, the A50 / N50 crosses the course of the A28. Shortly after the Knooppunt is the bridge that leads over the IJssel . The A32 begins at Knooppunt Lankhorst, between Staphorst and Meppel , and runs from there to Leeuwarden .

At Knooppunt Hoogeveen, the A37 continues eastwards to the German border; From there, the A28 continues in a northerly direction. The N48 runs from the south . The A28 runs along the Dwingelderveld National Park between the Ruins and Dwingeloo exits . At Assen, the N33 crosses the A28 and the N34 at Groningen . The A28 ends at Knooppunt Julianaplein and joins the A7 / N7 .

Between the Knooppunt Rijnsweerd and the Knooppunt Hoevelaken the A28 is part of the Europastraße 30 , from the Knooppunt Hoevelaken to the Knooppunt Julianaplein it is part of the Europastraße 232 .

The missing exit 1

Junction 3 was originally planned as the Zeist- West exit , but since it was not built, a number was missing from the numbering. So the "1" was simply left out at the beginning.
