The Rijksweg 65 (abbreviation: RW 65 ) - short: Autosnelweg 65 (abbreviation: A65 ) / Autoweg 65 (abbreviation: N65 ) - is a Dutch highway , by the Rijksweg 2 at 's-Hertogenbosch to Rijksweg 58 at Tilburg runs.
The Rijksweg begins as a motorway at Knooppunt Vught and runs from there to the center of Vught . From there, the Rijksweg continues as the N65 road. There are a total of seven traffic light crossings along the entire route of the N65, three of which are in Vught. At the Berkel-Enschot exit, the Rijksweg becomes a motorway again. At Knooppunt De Baars it finally joins the A58 . Rijksweg 65 is one of the shortest motorways in the province of North Brabant . The N65 has 2 × 2 lanes along its entire length.
Because of the numerous accidents, the N65 is also known as the "death road". This is also confirmed by the figures from 2003. According to them, there were 592 accidents between 1995 and 2003, in which 17 people died and 80 were seriously injured. The constant acceleration and braking between traffic lights was named as the main cause. The province of North Brabant expects the volume of traffic to increase and the intersections at Vught, Helvoirt and Udenhout to be congested very quickly.
A difficult route
Much effort has been made to get the traffic situation on the N65 under control. Among other things, speed cameras were installed and a partial parallel street was built. A bicycle tunnel was built for this purpose. However, all of these measures were not enough, which is why we are still thinking about making major modifications to the route.
