The A38 motorway (Rijksweg) begins northeast of the municipality of Ridderkerk and heads south to the Ridderkerk junction, where the 15 and 16 motorway intersect. The motorway is almost 1,500 meters long, making it the shortest in the whole of the Netherlands .

The A38 has no exits between its beginning and its end at Knooppunt. Since this is more of a feeder road than a motorway, there are no signs anywhere on the route that refer to the A38. The autobahn was given its name solely for administrative reasons.
