The Bundesautobahn 280 (abbreviation: BAB 280 ) - short form: Autobahn 280 (abbreviation: A 280 ) - is a motorway near the border of Lower Saxony and thus Germany to the Netherlands . It creates a five-kilometer connection from the German A 31 motorway to the Dutch border and continues behind as Autosnelweg 7 . These three motorways are also part of Europastraße 22 .
Trivia
There are no exit numbers attached to the exits.
This motorway was originally part of the A 28 . The current A 31 was signposted between the triangle Bunde and the AD Leer as a “double motorway” A 28 / A 31. With the introduction of exit numbering in the 1990s, double numbering was abolished and this section of the former A 28 was renamed the A 280.
In the east direction of travel, Rijksweg 7 runs after its last exit Bad Nieuweschans directly along the German-Dutch border. The national territory of the Netherlands ends in this section on the southern edge of the road. This results in the curiosity of a gas station and rest area ( Bunderneuland ), which is located on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany, so that the gas station prices customary in Germany are to be paid there. This German facility is not assigned to the A 280, which is only reached less than a kilometer after leaving Dutch territory for good.
