The federal autobahn 113 (abbreviation: BAB 113 ) - short form: Autobahn 113 (abbreviation: A 113 ) - is a German autobahn . It connects the Berliner Stadtring (A 100) with the Berliner Ring (A 10) in the southeast of Berlin and also connects the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport and the Berlin Brandenburg Airport to the city center . It is often referred to in traffic reports as the Schönefeld feeder road .
course
The motorway begins at the Neukölln triangle in the Neukölln district of Berlin and runs south-east parallel to the Teltow Canal . At Adlershof it crosses this and turns south in the direction of Schönefeld to the Schönefelder Kreuz . There are two tunnels on this section with nearby residential developments - the long crossing under the Rudower Höhe, the short crossing under Altglienicke and the crossing of the Berlin outer railway ring between Rudow and Schönefeld. Finally it reaches the Berliner Ring in the south at Schönefelder Kreuz and continues as the A 13 in the direction of Dresden . In order not to cut another aisle into the cityscape, a large part of the route follows the course of the former Berlin Wall .
history
The first section of this motorway was opened on October 6, 1962 in the GDR as a connection between the Treptow triangle and the Schönefeld motorway intersection . After German reunification , this route was given the designation A 113. In 1992 extensive re-planning was started. From the Waltersdorfer Dreieck to be built , a route to Berlin-Neukölln was planned in order to better connect southeast Berlin on both sides of the former Berlin Wall to the motorway network and the surrounding area. This route should become the new route of the A 113.
In 1997, after the planning was completed, construction began. On July 14, 2004, the section between AD Neukölln and Späthstraße was opened. The following section up to the Adlershof junction was opened to traffic on September 1, 2005 by the then Federal Transport Minister Manfred Stolpe . The section from AS Adlershof to the Waltersdorfer Dreieck finally followed on May 23, 2008. For the construction of this section, the then northern runway of Berlin-Schönefeld airport was demolished in 2007 .
On September 1, 2010, the new airport junction, which connects the future Berlin Brandenburg Airport directly to the motorway, was opened to traffic.
Since the opening of the last section of the A 113 between the AD Neukölln and the Schönefelder Kreuz, the old section between the freeway triangles Treptow and Waltersdorf has been run as the A 117 .
The part of the A 113 in the Berlin urban area was provided with a concrete roadway . Already in 2009, the section between the Späthstraße and Adlershof junctions showed damage from the alkali-silica reaction (so-called concrete cancer). In the years 2016–2018, the roadway in this section was renovated and an asphalt surface was installed.

Substitute measures under nature conservation law
Part of the Heidekampgraben , among other things, was rehabilitated as a replacement measure under nature conservation law for the damage to nature and the landscape caused by the construction of the motorway . At a total cost of around 1.5 million euros, a generous, shared footpath and bike path was built as part of the supra-regional Berlin Wall Trail and the ditch was vegetatively recultivated. The design was based on plans by the Magdeburg landscape architecture office Lohrer und Hochrein , which won a competition with its ideas as part of a VOF process .
