The federal highway 863 (abbreviation: BAB 863 ) - short form: Autobahn 863 (abbreviation: A 863 ) - was / is a planned highway on the route of the B 500 between the A 5 near Baden-Baden and the French border near Iffezheim .
In the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2003 , the project was listed as a four-lane expansion of the B 500 in “Additional Requirements” with the project number BW5032; the construction costs were estimated at 79.5 million euros .
On the French side, the D4 department road is to be expanded and connected to the A35 in France near Beinheim.
Earlier planning
The earlier planning of the federal motorway 863 should lead out of Freiburg towards the northeast. Today, the B 3 and B 294 federal highways, which have been developed similarly to the autobahn, run along this route .
