The federal motorway 999 (abbreviation: BAB 999 ) - short form: Autobahn 999 (abbreviation: A 999 ) - was originally planned as a motorway ring around Munich . However, the planning was abandoned, instead the A99 motorway ring was implemented.

history

A motorway ring around Munich was planned in the 1963 urban development plan. Although this is only referred to as the outer ring road in the text, it is shown on the attached map as a ring road.

The planned motorway ring was planned much more closely than the later realized Federal Motorway 99 and should run almost entirely on Munich city area. Only in the south should the ring lie outside the city limits, the course there is therefore not specified in the urban development plan.

According to the urban development plan, the ring in Munich's urban area should have the following course: from the BAB Salzburg (today A 8 ) around the planned Perlach relief settlement, along the Friedenspromenade, to the west past the Munich-Riem airport and in an arc around Johanneskirchen over the Leintalerbrücke to BAB Nürnberg (today A 9 ), from there offset a little north via Heidemannstraße and Rathenaustraße north past Fasaneriesee to a section of a planned motorway ring in Allach and Langwied (Munich) , which already existed before the Second World War , on the existing Langwieder Kleeblatt Crossing with the BAB Stuttgart (today A 8 ), further on to Aubing and the planned relief settlement Freiham along to the city limits. Outside the city, the course should lead back to the BAB Salzburg (today A 8 ) in an arch near the city limits .
