The federal highway 200 (abbreviation: B 200 ) is an east-west connection of Schleswig-Holstein in the Schleswig region . The B 200 begins near Husum at the junction from the B 5 and leads in a north-easterly direction over the Geest . South of Flensburg it crosses the A 7 and the B 199 and continues to Flensburg to the Danish border at Kruså in the direction of North Schleswig .

Between Haselund and Wanderup on the Geest, the route leads through a scenic moorland.

history

Previous routes and names

The road connection between the North Sea port of Husum and the Baltic Sea port of Flensburg, i.e. the Flensburg port , was built as the first road in the Schleswig region to the Chaussee in 1844 . This road was extended to Aabenraa in 1847 . A railway line from Flensburg to Husum was built as early as 1854 , which shifted traffic from road to rail. Nevertheless, bus routes were set up in the 1920s that connected Haselund with Flensburg and Husum.

The highway between Flensburg and Husum was raised to Reichsstraße 200 in 1937 .

Replacements

The western bypass of the city of Flensburg was opened in 1968 and was designated as Bundesautobahn 205 until 1987 . In 1987 the four-lane bypass was rededicated to federal highway 200. In the urban area of Flensburg, it is also called the western bypass , analogous to the eastern bypass , which branches off from the B 200 and which leads to the federal highway 199 .
