The federal autobahn 293 (abbreviation: BAB 293 ) - short form: autobahn 293 (abbreviation: A 293 ) - is an urban autobahn that runs largely in the area of the city of Oldenburg , but its northernmost section is in the Ammerland . Together with the A 28 and the A 29 , the A 293 enables you to "circumnavigate" Oldenburg on motorways.
course
The A 293 branches off from the A 28 at the Oldenburg-West triangle and merges into the A 29 and the B 211 at the Oldenburg-Nord junction . The former leads to Wilhelmshaven , the latter via Loy to Brake . Vehicles from the opposite direction are connected to the western districts of Oldenburg, the western and southern Ammerland , the northern parts of the Oldenburger Münsterland and the Emsland as well as East Frisia .
The north bypass branches off at the Oldenburg-Nadorst exit. The north bypass connects the districts of Ohmstede and Nadorst with the A 28 and A 29.
history
The section between the Oldenburg-West triangle and the Oldenburg-Nadorst junction runs along the route of the former federal highway 69 , which was built with two lanes and not free of intersections. The northern section between Oldenburg-Nadorst and the Oldenburg-Nord junction was built on a new route. As a result, Nadorster Strasse and Wilhelmshavener Heerstrasse in Oldenburg, on which the B 69 used to leave the city of Oldenburg and which now run parallel to the A 293, were relieved of through traffic.
