The federal autobahn 516 (abbreviation: BAB 516 ) - short form: Autobahn 516 (abbreviation: A 516 ) - is a short autobahn in Germany and runs entirely in the area of the city of Oberhausen . In terms of traffic, it begins at the Oberhausen motorway junction as an extension of the A 3 from Arnhem , which branches off here as the A 3 to Cologne or as the A 2 to Dortmund . After five kilometers, it ends at the Oberhausen-Eisenheim junction and turns into Bundesstraße 223 (Konrad-Adenauer-Allee) towards Alt-Oberhausen. After 500 meters, it is linked to the A 42 at the Oberhausen-Zentrum junction .
Especially at rush hour traffic jams often occur between Oberhausen - Sterkrade and the transition to the B 223 .
The A 516 connects the federal autobahn 3 and the Netherlands to downtown Oberhausen and the CentrO shopping center in the Neue Mitte district.
