The Bundesautobahn 255 (abbreviation: BAB 255 ) - short form: Autobahn 255 (abbreviation: A 255 ) - also called the Veddel junction , is a short stretch of the Autobahn in Hamburg and connects the Norderelbbrücken with Autobahn 1 .
General
The motorway is continuously expanded to four lanes.
The Hamburg tram , which used to run in the middle of the lanes over the Elbe bridge, crossed under the south-facing stretch of the motorway in the Veddel tram tunnel , which is now used for buses and taxis. To 6 October 2019, the departure made Hamburg-Elbe island along with the triangle Norderelbe the "Hamburg-Süd" because since then B 75 mentioned earlier Highway 252 branched off westward from the A 255th The corresponding motorway junction had an unusual design that was very elongated in north-south direction and looked more like two triangles .
particularities
In December 2012 the ADAC published statistics in which the A255 is one of the ten most dangerous motorways for wrong-way drivers . In 2010 and 2011 there were eight reports of wrong-way drivers on the short motorway. Extrapolated to 100 km and per year, there are statistically 166.7 wrong-way driver reports and thus "1st place". This value is mainly due to the fact that at 2.4 km it is the shortest motorway in the statistics.
Due to its short length, it has a PWC and a rest area.
