The Bundesautobahn 250 (abbreviation: BAB 250 ) - short form: Autobahn 250 (abbreviation: A 250 ) - is the former name of a motorway in northern Germany , which has been the northern section of the A 39 since November 3, 2010 .

In common parlance, this part of the A 39 is referred to as the Maschener Autobahn ; It begins south of Hamburg on the BAB 7 and leads in an easterly direction over 28 kilometers to Lüneburg , where it merges into the B 4 and this later into the B 209 . The motorway is consistently expanded to two lanes and was opened in a total of four sections:

  • 1975: AK Maschen - end of the motorway at Maschen
  • 1985: Maschen bypass (construction of today's Maschen AS)
  • 1987: AS Maschen - AS Winsen (Luhe) -West
  • 1991: AS Winsen (Luhe) -West - AS Winsen (Luhe) -Ost
  • 1995: AS Winsen (Luhe) -Ost - Lüneburg-Nord

With the planned new construction of the federal motorway 39 from Wolfsburg to the A 250, a continuous connection from the industrial region Braunschweig / Salzgitter to the Hamburg port region is to be achieved. On November 3, 2010, the A 250 was officially renamed the A 39. The route was already planned in the Third Reich as the Reichsautobahn RAB 41 and prepared for a short stretch near Braunschweig.
