The federal motorway 314 (abbreviation: BAB 314 ) - short form: Autobahn 314 (abbreviation: A 314 ) - was a planned motorway through which a direct connection from the Münsterland to the Netherlands was to be created. It should run from Münster via Steinfurt to the Gronau border crossing and there merge into the Dutch N 35, which continues to Enschede .
Originally, in addition to the construction of the A 314 , the federal traffic route plan also included an extension of the A 43 from Münster to Rheda and the construction of an A 47 through East Westphalia . This would have created a direct connection from East Westphalia to the Netherlands. The decision was made in the 1970s to build the A 33 for this task , which has since been implemented.
The plans for the construction of an A 314 were finally discarded in the 1990s. The federal highway 54 runs along the planned route today , which is free of intersections and was built as a three-lane motor vehicle.
