Heek is a municipality in the western Münsterland in the district of Borken in Münster Region in the northwest of the country North Rhine-Westphalia .

The parish was formed from the two former parishes Heek and Nienborg , which merged on July 1, 1969 to form the new parish Heek.

Coat of arms, banner and flag
The municipality was granted the right to carry a coat of arms, a flag, a banner and an official seal with a certificate from the district president dated July 10, 1972.

The coat of arms of the new municipality of Heek is a combination of the coat of arms of Heek and Nienborg approved in 1937. The figure of the holy bishop Ludger, but in gold instead of silver and only with a goose at his feet, as well as the castle tower above a battlement wall, which goes back to a seal of the castle men of the state castle Nienborg from the end of the 13th century. The colors correspond to those of the Münster monastery .

Culture and sights
Buildings
- Nienborg Castle , a former castle in the Nienborg district. Today the music academy of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is housed in the so-called Long House . The high house and Keppelborg are privately owned. Overnight stays are available in both buildings.
- The neo-Gothic Holy Cross Church with large, colorful windows by the glass painters von der Forst from Münster and Derix from Kevelaer as well as the Pietà from 1407, a sculpture made of Baumberger sandstone in the tower chapel.
