Krimpenerwaard is a municipality in the province of Zuid-Holland , Netherlands . It was created on January 1, 2015 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities Bergambacht , Nederlek , Ouderkerk , Schoonhoven and Vlist . The name of the new municipality was set in the restructuring law.

geography

location

The municipality covers the main part of the landscape part called Krimpenerwaard ( waard is the term for flat landscape in a river area ). Because of the orientation towards Rotterdam , Krimpen aan den IJssel was not included in the new municipality. An area south of Gouda is in the Krimpenerwaard near Stolwijkersluis, but has belonged to Gouda since 1964. On the other hand, part of Haastrecht belongs to the municipality, although it does not belong to the Krimpenerwaard.

Neighboring communities

Krimpenerwaard borders in a clockwise direction in the northwest on the municipalities of Gouda , Bodegraven-Reeuwijk , Oudewater , Lopik , Zederik , Molenwaard , Krimpen aan den IJssel and Zuidplas .

His colleagues include the councilors Lavinja Sleeuwenhoek ( Vereniging Gemeentebelang Krimpenerwaard ), Leon de Wit (Vereniging Gemeentebelang Krimpenerwaard), Ria Boere (VVD), Jan Vente ( ChristenUnie ), Bert Bening ( D66 ) and the community secretary Marjolein Plantinga .
