Joël Sloof (born November 15, 1988 in Waddinxveen ) is a Swedish- Dutch biathlete .

Joël Sloof comes from a biathlon enthusiastic family. The siblings Luciën and Chardine are also biathletes and members of the junior national team of the Netherlands, sponsored by the father and trainer Eddy Sloof . The family lives in Torsby in Sweden and competes in Bore Biathlon . Joël started biathlon in 2005 and has been a member of the Dutch national team since the 2005/06 season.

Sloof also starts for the Dutch Ski Association and is trained by Eddy Sloof. Since 2005 Sloof competed in junior competitions of the Biathlon European Cup . In 2007 he achieved his best individual result here as tenth in a pursuit race in Torsby . In Presque Isle he started at his first Junior World Championships, which brought the results 49 in individual and sprint and 48 in the pursuit. He finished the European Junior Championship in Langdorf in 67th place in the individual and 62nd in the sprint. Sloof also took part in 2007 Junior World Championships in Martell , 2008 in Ruhpolding and 2009 in Canmore . The best result was a 21st place in the individual in Ruhpolding. At the European Junior Championships Sloof also competed in Bansko in 2007 , in Nové Město na Moravě in 2008 and in Ufa in 2009 . At the continental level, a 21st place, 2007 in the pursuit, was the best result.

Sloof has been competing in the performance area since the 2008/09 season . His first race was a 99th place in a sprint at Idre . In 2011 he won points for the first time as the 28th of a sprint in Osrblie and repeated this result a little later in an individual in Annecy . In the World Cup, Sloof made his debut in 2009 at the start of the season in Östersund . He finished his first individual in 126th place. In the further course of the season he improved his best performance in a sprint at Holmenkollen in Oslo to 91st place. The first major event was the 2010 European Biathlon Championships in Otepää , where Sloof finished 49th in the individual. The 2011 European Biathlon Championships followed in Ridnaun . Sloof finished 49th in the individual, 31st in the sprint and 27th in the pursuit. In the relay, he was used as a starting runner and came with Herbert Cool , his brother Luciën and Maximilian Götzinger in 16th place.
