The Heart of Everything (Engl. The heart of the whole ) is the fourth music album of the Dutch band Within Temptation . It was released in March 2007 in Europe by Roadrunner Records .

Origin and style

The album was recorded between 2005 and 2006 with Daniel Gibson , who was also responsible for the predecessor The Silent Force . The lyrics are from singer Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. Stylistically, some pieces are based on Evanescence and Lacuna Coil , keyboards are dominant. In other places, such as the ballad Frozen , symphonic metal elements are in the foreground. What Have You Done is a duet of Adels with Mina Caputo (then Keith Caputo, from Life of Agony ). The title track is inspired by the movie Braveheart .

reception

In Germany, the album reached number five in the charts. Jan Jaedike saw “Holland's kitsch metal flagship” in Rock Hard “back on track”. He highlighted pieces like Our Solemn Hour and The Cross and gave them eight out of ten points.
