Revolution Renaissance was a power metal band from Finland , which was founded by Timo Tolkki after his departure from Stratovarius .
history
The band was founded in 2008 after Timo Tolkki announced on April 2, 2008 that he was leaving Stratovarius. Since the final line-up had not yet been found, Tolkki brought a number of top-class guest musicians on board for the debut album New Era , which was released on June 6, 2008. The vocals were done by Tobias Sammet ( Edguy , Avantasia ), Michael Kiske (ex Helloween ) and Pasi Rantanen (ex Thunderstone). Pasi Heikkilä played the bass, Mirka Rantanen (Thunderstone) was responsible for the drums, and Joonas Puolakka for the keyboard. There are also tracks that were sung by Stratovarius singer Timo Kotipelto. Angel , Eden is burning , Born upon a cross , Keep the flame alive , Last night on earth and the title track Revolution Renaissance . After the album was finished, Tolkki started looking for a permanent line-up worldwide. The first official line-up now includes Timo Tolkki, Brazilian singer Gus Monsanto, drummer Bruno Agra, keyboardist Mike Khalilov and Justin Biggs on bass. With the first full line-up, the band will go on a South American tour at the end of 2008 .
According to Tolkki, the aim of the band was to continue the musical path of Stratovarius with renewed energy, enthusiasm and attitude.
On April 3, 2009 the second studio album, Age of Aquarius , was released, which contains slower, mostly epic songs.
At about the same time as the release of the third album Trinity , Timo Tolkki announced the breakup of the band due to chronic failure.
