Impellitteri is an American heavy metal band founded in 1987 . The name is derived from the founder and guitarist of the group Chris Impellitteri . He is also the only constant member of the group. The band is particularly known and successful in Japan, while it is hardly known in Europe.
history
Chris Impellitteri founded the group named after him in 1987 after having previously released a demo with instrumentals . The young group was joined by Rob Rock , who made an EP in 1987 , but was replaced by Graham Bonnet on the debut album Stand in Line . Over the years, Rob Rock became one of the most frequently used singers for sessions and has worked with Avantasia and Axel Rudi Pell , among others . Already at this time it became clear that Impellitteri is primarily the group of the guitarist and, similar to Yngwie Malmsteen , Axel Rudi Pell or Rainbow, the rest of the line-up is interchangeable. So there were always line-up changes, a constant line-up never stayed together for more than one album.
In 1992 Rob Rock rejoined Impellitteri and remained the group's singer until the album Crunch (2000). After a brief interlude with Graham Bonnet ( System X ) and Curtis Skelton (2002-2008), rock returned in 2009 for the current album Wicked Maiden .
The group released a total of nine studio albums, three EPs and several live albums. Over the years, the line-up included well-known musicians such as bassists Chuck Wright (including Quiet Riot and Blackthorne ) and Dave Spitz (including with Black Sabbath ), drummers Stet Howland (including WASP ) and Ken Mary (including Alice Cooper , Accept and Chastain ) and keyboardist Claude Schnell ( Dio ).
style
Similar to most solo guitarists such as Malmsteen, Pell and Blackmore, Chris Impellitteri used the hard rock and power metal styles, primarily to perform his numerous guitar solos . Only in the course of time did the approach of the band Impellitteri, which became quite famous in Japan, change. The albums from 2000 to today are very experimental, with modern elements up to a heavier version.
