Graham Bonnet (* 23. December 1947 in Skegness ) is a British hard rock - singer , who through his work with Ritchie Blackmore's band Rainbow was known.

life and career

Bonnet began his musical career in the late 1960s with the band The Marbles . The singer's first solo album, released in 1977, was the reason he got into Ritchie Blackmore's band Rainbow.

After a short interlude with the Michael Schenker Group in 1982, Bonnett formed his own hard rock band Alcatrazz in 1983 , in which the u. a. by Mike Varney funded Swedish young guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen was a member. With the latter, the band's first album was created under the title No Parole from Rock'n'Roll , which received a lot of attention, especially in the USA. Two years later, Malmsteen was replaced by Steve Vai , who also became very well known. After the band split up in 1987, Bonnet took over the vocals on the debut album Stand in Line by the band Impellitteri and was their front man on the subsequent world tour in 1988.

Graham Bonnet is known for his penchant for guitar virtuosos; Ritchie Blackmore, Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai were or became guitarists of world renown.

As an avowed James Dean fan, Bonnet stood out in the 1980s for the fact that - contrary to all clichés of the hard rock scene - he always wore a short haircut.
