Afterlife is the only music album released in 1993 by the American hard rock band Blackthorne, founded in 1991 .

background

Before the project was founded, the musicians involved already had contact with each other on various occasions; Singer Graham Bonnet , best known as the singer of Rainbow and Michael Schenker Group , had played with Jimmy Waldo at Alcatrazz . Bassist Chuck Wright and drummer Frankie Banali worked together on Quiet Riot , and Bob Kulick had played repeatedly with individual musicians, for example with Banali for the WASP album The Headless Children .

Blackthorne was founded in 1991 and Afterlife was born in 1993 and was produced by Bob Kulick . The recordings took place in the Soundchamber Studios in Hollywood.

reception

Michael Lorant wrote for Metal Hammer that he “had to pull himself together not to praise this album too much.” Experience is the right word for Bonnet's vocals, “which once brought Rainbow into the charts”. One of these chart toppers ( All Night Long ) is "also available here in a new version." The remaining nine tracks are reminiscent, apart from the AC / DC passage on We Won't Be Forgotten , often of Bonnet's Alcatrazz . ”After all,“ their keyboardist Jimmy Waldo is also part of Blackthorne. ”In addition,“ I also join the renowned rhythm section with bassist Chuck Wright and drummer Frankie Banali. ”As guitarist and producer, Bob Kulick is responsible for“ probably the heaviest album on the the James Dean fan ever "sang.
