Bob Kulick

Bob Kulick (born January 16, 1950 in Brooklyn , New York - † May 28, 2020 ) was an American rock musician and record producer .

Career

Kulick played in the early 1970s in several local New York bands and was among other things with Patti LaBelle on tour . In January 1973 he was one of the guitarists shortlisted for the original Kiss lineup. Although Ace Frehley was chosen as guitarist instead of him , he stayed in contact with Kiss singer Paul Stanley . He worked as a studio musician for Lou Reed on his album Coney Island Baby, among others, and was a member of the Meat Loaf tour band with his brother Bruce during the Bat Out Of Hell Tour and Bat Tour 2 . At first without naming him, he played on some of the tracks on the Kiss album Alive II , and the following year he played on Paul Stanley's solo album . In the early 1980s he was involved as a studio musician on recordings by Diana Ross , Was (Not Was) and Michael Bolton and supported Kiss with the recording of her album Creatures of the Night . In 1984 he recommended Kiss to his brother Bruce as the new lead guitarist. Until the late 1980s, he played for the Neverland Express , Meat Loaf's tour band. He also played on several WASP studio albums

Kulick later began working as a music producer. He produced the Grammy Award- winning Whiplash for Motörhead . He also composed and produced the title Sweet Victory for an episode of the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants . He also produced several tribute albums , for each of which he was able to attract top-class musicians. For Humanary Stew - A Tribute to Alice Cooper , these include Dave Mustaine , Roger Daltrey , Ronnie James Dio and Bruce Dickinson ; to Butchering The Beatles factors included Billy Gibbons , Billy Idol and Kilmister Lemmy with. In 2008 he produced a Christmas album on which Dave Grohl , Tony Iommi , Chuck Billy and Tim Owens, among others , reinterpreted well-known Christmas carols.

Kulick died at the end of May 2020 at the age of 70.
