The Mystery of Time is the sixth studio album by the German metal opera Avantasia . It was published on March 29, 2013. For the first time, this time there was a collaboration with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg .
history
Although Tobias Sammet described the Avantasia tour in 2008 as unique, there was another short tour at the end of 2010. According to Tobias Sammet, this was intended to complete the Avantasia project. For this, a last concert took place at Wacken Open Air in August 2011 . On August 7, 2012, almost exactly one year after the Wacken appearance, Tobias Sammet announced in a statement on his homepage that he would not end the project. Instead there will be a new album in 2013. He said:
“Even if I basically have a lot of fun recording and touring with Edguy, when I made the decision to end the AVANTASIA thing for the time being, I couldn't see how much I would need this project for my inner balance. After the last studio album and the excellent worldwide response, the subsequent world tour, which was sold out almost everywhere, and the collaboration with my childhood heroes such as Alice Cooper , Klaus Meine , Rudolf Schenker , Eric Singer from KISS , etc., I was initially sure that I would be in the had said everything there was to say in the name of AVANTASIA in the past few years. But that's not really what I'm talking about at AVANTASIA. I just want to create great music in connection with fantasy worlds, and preferably make it bigger and better. And when I hear what song material I have so far, I know that the decision to open a new chapter with AVANTASIA is the only logical consequence! I have the feeling that it just has to be! "
On November 9, 2012, Russell Gilbrook was announced by Uriah Heep as drummer for the CD. On November 27, 2012 Bruce Kulick announced as guest guitarist and on December 10, 2012 Peter "Biff" Byford of Saxon was announced as the first guest singer. Tobias Sammet traveled to Brighton for the recordings . At Christmas 2012, Sammet announced that the album would be working with the German film orchestra Babelsberg . Michael Kiske was confirmed as a guest on the video published for this purpose . Three days later, Arjen Lucassen's participation was announced. He also led similar projects as Avantasia. On January 10, 2013, the participation of Ronnie Atkins of the Pretty Maids was announced and two days later the participation of Eric Martins of Mr. Big . On January 19th, Sammet confirmed the last guest star to date with Joe Lynn Turner . After that, on February 1, 2013, the album cover was already published for registered fans. It's by Rodney Matthews , who has also drawn album covers for Magnum , Asia , Thin Lizzy and Nazareth , among others .
On March 21, 2013, the single Sleepwalking was released. There is also a music video.
