The Ziegelei-Museum is a private museum south of Germersheim am Rhein . The Sondernheim brickworks was founded in 1834 by the Stubenrauch brothers. Bricks were burned here throughout until 1965. In the 1970s the brickworks was sold to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and placed under monument protection before the intended demolition .

The museum, which has been privately owned again since 2000, and the existing light railroad system have been renovated in accordance with historical monuments and are open every first Sunday of the month from April to October, on the day of the open monument every second Sunday in September, for other special occasions and for groups of visitors. In 2010, the industrial property with drying huts, ring kilns and forge was awarded the Rhineland-Palatinate State Monument Prize.

The field railway, which was previously used for transport purposes, transported the clay from the nearby clay pit in Im Willig , which is now a nature reserve , to the industrial plant and is available for journeys on opening days. At the beginning of 2016, the field railway had 10 locomotives and around 1.2 km of track.

In the brick and the surrounding grounds have white stork , kestrel , tawny owl , barn owl and in Germany biggest nursery of mosquito bat arrived.
