Beyond the Bridge is a Hessian progressive metal and rock band from Frankfurt am Main , which was founded in 1999 under the name Fall Out .
history
The band was founded in 1999 as a school band under the name Fall Out. After a few local appearances, the band broke up for the time being so that the members could devote themselves to their studies and other professions. In 2005 guitarist Peter Degenfeld-Schonburg decided to revive the band. Over the next five years he worked with keyboardist Christopher Tarnow on the concept album The Old Man and the Spirit . Simon Oberender was chosen as the producer . Fabian Maier joined the line-up as the new drummer and Herbie Langhans as the new singer . Bassist Dominik Stotzem, already active in the school band at the time, was also back in the band. A short time later Dilenya Mar joined the group as a further singer. The recordings for The Old Man and the Spirit began in 2008 in the Gate studio in Wolfsburg . The recordings were not finished until 2011, so the album was released on Frontiers Records in January 2012 . In September 2012, the band performed at the ProgPower USA festival. In October 2012 the band suffered a sad blow of fate, because Simon Oberender died suddenly and unexpectedly. On their homepage the band announced a creative break as well as the intention to continue in any case.
style
The band plays classic progressive metal and rock, comparing them to Dream Theater of the early 1990s. However, the group borrows from other metal and rock genres, with bands such as Royal Hunt , Meat Loaf , Avantasia , Savatage and Within Temptation being named.
