The Pearl Musical Instrument Company , or Pearl for short , is a global manufacturer of percussion instruments and flutes . In addition to complete drums , Pearl also produces percussion instruments such as congas , bongos , timbales , cajóns , batá drums , djembés , wadaiko drums and accessories for drums. Instruments for the marching area are also manufactured by Pearl.

history

The Japanese Katsumi Yanagisawa founded Pearl on April 2, 1946 in Sumida , Tokyo. In the beginning, music stands were made, it was not until 1950 that he switched to making drums.

First, drum bodies were made for over 30 different manufacturers. It was not until the 1960s that these deliveries began to be discontinued and instruments to be produced under their own name and logo.

Pearl drum kits were offered in Germany from the 1960s . First, the drums of the leading manufacturers were optically reproduced. Pearl used a tom holding system based on Rogers '. From around the mid-1970s, Pearl designed its own tom holder system, which was somewhat based on that of Sonor . However, two single smooth tubes were used, which were mounted in pairs on a double-domed rosette on the bass drum.

Manufacturing

Pearl only manufactures its instruments in its own factories. The company therefore has drum kit factories in China and Taiwan . Flutes are made in Taiwan and Japan, while the accompaniment instruments for Latin American music are made in Thailand .

Pearl manufactures its instruments in all categories and price levels, from entry-level to upper class.
