Symphorce was a German power metal band from Stuttgart .

history

In October 1998 Andy B. Franck, singer with Brainstorm and formerly also with Ivanhoe , founded the band. The founding members were Stefan "Stef" Bertolla (guitar), Michael "Mike" Hammer (electric bass), Hans-Peter "HP" Walter (keyboard) and Stefan Köllner (drums).

Truth to Promises was first published in 1999. A tour in the opening act for Mercyful Fate was followed by a line-up change: guitarist Cédric “Cede” Dupont (now also with Freedom Call ) and bassist Dennis Wohlbold joined Symphorce. The cast at that time consisted of Andy B. Franck, HP Walter, Cede Dupont and Dennis Wohlbold.

Almost a year later the second album followed with Sinctuary (2000). At the same time Franck became the singer of the German power metal band Brainstorm .

After Sinctuary , drummer Sascha Sauer joined the band. HP Walter left the band at his own request due to lack of time after the album Sinctuary , but continued to work as keyboard player in the studio on the albums phorcefulAhead and Twice Second . Rhythm guitarist Markus Pohl completed the band. He practically replaced the missing keyboards with the second guitar, which changed the sound of Symphorce.

With Metal Blade Records as a new partner in the back Symphorce took in August 2002 with assistance by Achim Köhler Primal Fear in the House-Of-Music Studios phorcefulAhead on the third album. After a tour with Kamelot and appearances at festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze in spring 2003 , the new album Twice Second was recorded.

In the spring of 2004 Symphorce was touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland together with Wizard as opening act for the band Grave Digger . On September 5, 2005, the fifth studio album GodSpeed was released. Accompanied by the band Stratovarius , the group also went on their first US tour.

Her last live performance at a festival was on June 9, 2007 at the Rage-against-Racism-Open-Air. In the same year the album Become Death was released.

In January 2010 the band signed a record deal with AFM Records and began work on a new album. In the meantime, guitarist Cédric "Cede" Dupont released an instrumental- only solo record entitled Melodrama in June 2010 . In addition, the debut album Point of Origin by Dupont's new band Downspirit was released on June 23, 2010 . The band's seventh studio album, entitled Unrestricted , was released on October 15, 2010.

On October 9, 2011, the band announced their breakup because members Andy B. Franck and Cédric "Cede" Dupont had too much to do with their main bands. This made further touring and recording of new albums impossible.
