Adrian Lyne

Adrian Lyne (born March 4, 1941 in Peterborough , Cambridgeshire ) is a British film director , film producer and screenwriter .

Career

Lyne began his career as a commercial filmmaker and made his first film with Jeanie's clique in 1980 . This was followed by the hit Flashdance (1983) about a welder who wants to be accepted at a ballet school , and the lascivious erotic strip 9½ weeks (1986). The thriller A Fateful Affair (1987) received six Academy Award nominations , including for best director. His feeling for the success potential of star casts in provocative films about sexuality led him to make other films with these focuses: An Immoral Offer (1993), another Lolita film based on Vladimir Nabokov (1997) and the successful drama Unfaithful to Fraud and Marital jealousy that earned lead actress Diane Lane an Oscar nomination. He was also involved as a producer in this remake of Claude Chabrol's The Unfaithful Woman . The film Jacob's Ladder (1990) about a man who has experienced death seems to be out of line .
