Vanishing Point (English for vanishing point) is an Australian power and progressive metal band from Melbourne , which was founded in the early 1990s under the name Eye .

history

The band was founded in the early 1990s by guitarist Tommy Vucur, drummer Jack Lukic and bassist Joe Del Mastro under the name Eye. Singer Silvio Massaro and keyboardist Pep Sammartino joined in the mid-1990s and the band changed their name to Vanishing Point. Shortly thereafter, Andrew Whitehead joined the band as the second guitarist. The group began work on their first album and recorded In Thought in 1996. The album was released across Europe in 1997 on the German label Angular Records , where later u. a. artists like Lana Lane , Sylvan or Max Pie should also publish. The following year it was re-released in Australia on Metal Warriors Records . There was a bonus song on the album called Inner Peace . The song featured new guitarist Chris Porcianko, who had since replaced Andrew Whitehead. In 1999 the band supported Yngwie Malmsteen before keyboardist Pep Sammartino left the band and was replaced by Danny Olding. In 2000 an appearance at the Wacken Open Air followed . Later that year, the second album Tangled in Dream was released in Australia on Metal Warriors Records and internationally on Limb Music . Towards the end of 2001 followed a tour through Europe together with Gamma Ray and Sonata Arctica , with Olding also playing keyboard for Gamma Ray. In 2002 the band returned to Australia and held a tour with Edguy . Shortly after the tour ended, Olding left the band. In 2003 the band worked on another new album and rarely performed live. In the same year Leonard Kopilas joined the line-up as the new keyboardist. However, since the band got into disputes with Metal Warriors, the band's activity initially came to a standstill.

In 2005 the band performed live for the first time and played for the second time on the Australian Metal for the Brain . The festival was followed by an appearance with Nightwish . The new album Embrace the Silence was released internationally on Dockyard 1 in the middle of the year . In Australia the album was released by Riot! Records . Towards the end of the year, Joe Del Mastro announced his departure and was replaced by Steve Cox. During 2006 the band played concerts with Black Label Society and Gamma Ray. Jack Lukic left the band on December 7th, followed by Cox 22 days later. Adrian Alimic joined the band as the new bass player, Christian Nativo took over the position of drummer and Jake Lowe took over the position of keyboardist. In May 2007 concerts with DragonForce in Australia and New Zealand followed . The next album, The Fourth Season , was released on August 24, 2007 by Dockyard 1. In February 2008, the band played appearances with Iron Maiden with a performance in Perth and two concerts in Melbourne. In the same month the band also played appearances with Black Majesty and Helloween . In July, the group opened up for Joe Satriani at two concerts in Melbourne. In late September the band played appearances in Europe with Sonata Arctica and Pagan's Mind . During the tour, the band worked on the follow-up album. After the group returned to Australia, the band continued working on the new album, which the band continued in 2009. In 2010 Tommy Vucur, Adrian Alimic and Jake Lowe left the band.
