Lana grew up in a very musical family, with rock music and big band swing , and so she started singing in bands right after high school. To further her career, she moved to Los Angeles in the late 1980s , where she met her future husband.

Lana Lane's first albums were particularly successful in Japan. It was only with the third that it was able to establish itself elsewhere, initially in Europe. The style of the music changes from album to album. Most of the time, calm rock or power ballads written by Lana dominate . Cover versions of well-known titles are very often presented, the albums Cover Collection (2003) and Gemini (2006) even exclusively contain interpretations of well-known titles. In recent years the style has generally gotten a bit tougher and has moved towards symphonic rock , symphonic metal and progressive metal .
