Career as a player
society
Alexa began his career at UM Timișoara , but he was not used in his first season in the first team. In 1999 he moved to AS Rocar Bucharest , a first division club at the time . In its first full season, the club was twelfth in Divizia A (now League 1 ). In the following season , Alexa only played the first half of the season with Rocar. During the winter break he moved to league rivals FC Universitatea Craiova , where he stayed for half a year before he was signed by Dinamo Bucharest . In his first season , Alexa reached sixth place with Dinamo, but was able to win the Romanian Cup . In the 2003/04 season the double of championship and cup followed .
The midfielder then left home and moved to Beijing Guoan in the People's Republic of China . After a sixth place in the championship, he returned to Dinamo in the spring of the 2005/06 season and the club finished third with Alexa at the end of the season.
In the summer of 2006 he signed again with his home club, which now played in the top Romanian league. After finishing sixth in 2007 and sixth in 2008, he was able to win the runner- up in the 2008/09 season and then qualify for the Champions League qualification , where the club failed at VfB Stuttgart in 2009/10 . He was able to finish the 2010/11 season with his team behind Oțelul Galați again as runner-up. After his club was denied admission to the 2011/12 season in the summer , he moved to league rivals Rapid Bucharest . With Rapid he was able to finish the season in fourth place, which meant qualifying for the Europa League . There he had previously reached the group stage with his team. In the Romanian Cup final in 2012 he missed his third cup success with a 0-1 win against Dinamo Bucharest.
Alexa left Romania in summer 2012 and joined the Cypriot first division club Anorthosis Famagusta . There he ended his active career in March 2014 to become a football coach.
National team
Alexa made her debut in the Romanian national team on May 27, 2004 in a friendly against Ireland . Before that, he was in the squad for a tournament in Cyprus in early 2004. However, his two appearances are not counted as official internationals. Then he was not considered for more than six years before Răzvan Lucescu called him in his squad for the friendly against Italy on November 17, 2010 and substituted him in the 80th minute for Adrian Ropotan . When he played against Ukraine in a tournament in Cyprus on February 8, 2011, he scored both goals to make it 2-2 and thus his first international goals.
After he was in the starting XI in the European Championship qualifier against Bosnia-Herzegovina , he was not considered by Lucescu three days later against Luxembourg . On a trip to South America in June 2011, Alexa came to two short assignments. After Lucescu's subsequent departure, his successor Victor Pițurcă no longer considered him.
Career as a coach
In March 2014 Alexa got the opportunity to succeed Aurel Șunda as head coach of ACS Poli Timișoara in League 1 . For this he ended his active career immediately. However, he could not prevent the relegation of his club. He also looked after the club in Liga II and led it to rise again in 2015 . After winning eight games at the start of the 2015/16 season , they parted ways again in August 2015. A few days later he replaced Florin Marin as the head coach of Rapid Bucharest in Liga II. With Rapid he also made it to League 1, which the club was denied for financial reasons in July 2016. Alexa joined ASA Târgu Mureș in August 2016 . In December 2016, league rival CS Concordia Chiajna signed him. There he closed the 2016/17 season with relegation. After the first match day of the following season, his contract was terminated in July 2017. A month later he became the new head coach of FC Dunărea Călărași in Liga II.
