Adrian Ropotan (born May 8, 1986 in Galați ) is a Romanian football player . He has been under contract with the Hatta Club in the United Arab Emirates since summer 2016 .
Career
In 2004 Ropotan came first in the squad of the second team from Dinamo Bucharest , which was represented at the time in the second Romanian division, the Divizia B (now Liga II ). There he became a regular player in the course of the 2005/06 season and sniffed the first division air on March 18, 2006 in the first team . During the 2006/07 season he became a regular at Dinamo and won his first championship at the end of the season. In the following years the club could not build on this success.
At the beginning of 2009 Ropotan left his Romanian homeland and moved to Dynamo Moscow in Russia . There he also established himself as a regular player after initial difficulties, but his club could not meet the high expectations and only finished both the 2009 and 2010 seasons in midfield. In the summer of 2011 he moved on loan to league rivals Tom Tomsk . After returning in the summer of 2012, he only made six appearances for Dynamo before moving to league rivals Volga Nizhny Novgorod in January 2013 . In the summer of 2014 he left Russia to join the Azerbaijani club FK Qəbələ , where his compatriot Dorinel Munteanu worked as a coach. After Munteanu's release, Ropotan was no longer used in the second half of the 2014/15 season .
In the summer of 2015, Ropotan returned to Romania and joined Petrolul Ploieşti . During the 2015/16 winter break , he moved on to Pandurii Târgu Jiu . With his team he finished the season in third place in the table, which meant qualifying for the Europa League . In summer 2016 he decided to move to the Hatta Club in the UAE Arabian Gulf League .
National team
Ropotan made his debut in the jersey of the Romanian national team on November 19, 2008 when he came on as a substitute for Costin Lazar in a friendly against Georgia at half-time . In December 2008 he was used in two unofficial games against his own U-21 team and Steaua Bucharest , before national coach Victor Pițurcă no longer built on him. It was not until November 2010 that his successor Răzvan Lucescu brought him back to the national team, where he made his comeback in the friendly against Italy on November 17. In March 2011 he played two European Championship qualifiers against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Luxembourg .
Subsequently, Ropotan was not considered for four years and only returned to the national team under Anghel Iordănescu in March 2016 . In the friendly against Spain on March 27, 2016, he came on as a substitute for Mihai Pintilii in added time. In May of the same year, Ropotan was part of Iordănescu's preliminary squad for the European Championship in France, but was ultimately not nominated. On May 25, 2016, he played his last international match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo .
