Aurel Șunda (born October 14, 1957 in Becicherecu Mic ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach . He has headed the youth department of ACS Poli Timișoara since 2014 .

Player career

Șunda came to CFR Timișoara in 1976 , who was playing in Divizia B at the time . There he played for three years and was used in a good half of the matches. After relegation in 1979 , he joined local rivals Politehnica Timișoara , who played in Divizia A at the time . At “Poli” he quickly became a regular. With his club he fought in the league to stay in class, but celebrated success in the Romanian Cup . Due to the success Triumph 1980 he moved with his team in the European Cup Winners' Cup , where he was eliminated with his team in the second round against West Ham United . In the 1980/81 season he also reached the cup final , but lost to Universitatea Craiova . Since Craiova became champion, Șunda was allowed to play in the European Cup Winners' Cup again , but was eliminated with his team in the preliminary round.

In the league he did not reach the class goal in the 1982/83 season and was relegated. Șunda stayed in Timișoara, which developed into an elevator crew in the years that followed. In early 1988 he left the club for local rival Progresul Timişoara in Divizia B. After a year at UM Timişoara , he ended his active career in 1991.
