Human Fortress is a power metal - band from Hannover .

history

Founded in 1997 by Pablo J. Tammen, Torsten Wolf, Volker Trost and Thomas Albrecht as a hard rock band called Timezone , the band recorded a demo with the singer Michaela Senger , but separated from her after the recordings.

In 1998 the band found a new singer and style in Jioti Parcharidis, who was still with Chateau at the time . As a metal band, the band was renamed Human Fortress .

In 1999 the band recorded another demo , with Burkhard Becker (also from Chateau ) on keyboards . In early 2000 the demo got some good reviews and producer Tommy Newton ( Victory ) contacted the band. Keyboarder Dirk Marquardt and, to replace Thomas Albrecht, drummer Apostolos “Laki” Zaios, joined the band for the production of the first album that followed.

After production was completed in August 2000, a label was looked for. The song The Dragon's Lair won the Unheard competition hosted by Rock Hard magazine , and in February 2001 the band signed with LMP .

The debut album Lord of Earth and Heaven's Heir was released on September 17, 2001.

A year before the release of their debut, the band began writing songs for their second album. Again under the direction of Tommy Newton , the production went from June to October 2002. In early 2003, the contract with LMP was broken and instead came from Massacre Records . Frank Sawade also joined the band to relieve Volker Trost as a guitarist. Sometimes the band performed with three guitarists, for example at the Wacken Open Air 2003.

In October of that year the second album Defenders of the Crown was released , shortly afterwards Volker Trost completely withdrew from the band.

The summer of 2007 brought further line-up changes: Singer Jioti Parcharidis and drummer Apostolos "Laki" Zaios left the band, producer Carsten Frank (formerly Galloglass , now with Athorn ) and Arndt Krone (LA Music Academy, Torfrock ) joined the band as singer and drummer .

On April 25, 2008, the band's third studio album, Eternal Empire (again on Massacre Records ), which includes the band's first music video, was released. After the release, guitarist Torsten Wolf and drummer Arndt Krone left the group, the latter found a successor in Vincent Gongala.

In May 2009, the band announced that Frank Sawade, Pablo J. Tammen, Dirk Marquardt and Vincent Gongala would found a new band called Ember Sea with singer Eva Skamira in order to continue the separation from Power Metal in favor of stylistic breadth . Shortly afterwards the old band line-up reformed from the former members Jioti Parcharidis, Torsten Wolf, Volker Trost and Apostolos "Laki" Zaios.

Keyboarder Dirk Liehm and long-time roadie of the band, Ingmar von Berg, who takes on the bass part, are new to the band. The reformed band has decided to continue playing music in the style of the first two albums. The Brazilian singer Gus Monsanto finally joins the band as a singer after Jioti Parcharidis quits due to health problems. In 2013, shortly before the release of the album Raided Land , Ingmar von Berg left the band and André Hort (formerly Rough Silk ) was signed on as a new man on bass.

The fifth studio album Thieves of the Night was released on March 18, 2016. It was produced by Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann (Orden Ogan).
