Tommy Newton

Tommy Newton (born Thomas Metzger-Newton on July 1, 1957 in Stuttgart ) is a German hard rock guitarist and music producer.

The son of a German mother and an American father played in a school band and recorded his first LP with his own band at the age of 16. After recording with the German-Italian band Sphinx, he became a member of Fargo in Hanover in 1981 . In 1983 he founded the internationally successful band Victory together with Fargo bassist Peter Knorn , with whom he has worked as a guitarist and producer ever since.

After he had already produced bands like Steeler and Ayers Rock , he succeeded with the Helloween albums Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 and Part 2 (1987 and 1988), which were sold 1.5 and 1.8 million times respectively Breakthrough as a producer. In 1990 he went to the USA. Upon his return, he founded the studio in 1993 Stairway to Heaven and later at Celle the areas 51 Recording Studios .

After the reunification of Victory, Newton toured again with the band, including Bulgaria and Russia , performed at the Wacken Open Air Festival and in 2006 took part in a European tour. In January 2007 he suffered a heart attack from which he quickly recovered. After only three canceled concerts, he was back on stage on February 23, 2007 at the Break the Barriers Festival in Bremen .
