history

2007–2009: Ashes of the Coming Dawn and From Now On ...

Just four months after their founding in early 2007, the band recorded the EP Ashes of the Coming Dawn , which contained 7 songs. The EP was printed in small numbers and sold independently. A year later, the band recorded another demo. From Now On ... comprised only four songs and was made available for free download and distributed at concerts.

2010–2012: immersion

The recordings for the first album Immersion began in June 2010 and were completed towards the end of 2010. However, the album was only released in March 2012, as it was decided to re-record some sound tracks after separating from guitarist Phillipp Olivier .

The debut was released in Germany in March 2012 in cooperation with the Hamburg label AFM Records and received a lot of positive feedback, especially for the advanced songwriting and the skillful playing with melodies and progressive elements. The album received praise and top marks in various German music magazines and numerous online reviews. In May 2012 the album was also released in North America.

2013–2015: The Black Wild Yonder

The second studio album by The Black Wild Yonder was produced from June to December 2013 and released in February 2014.

2016-2019: A Quiet World

In November 2016 the third album A Quiet World was released , which was produced in collaboration with Eike Freese ( Dark Age ) and released again via AFM Records .

Since 2020: Inner Universe

At the end of March 2020, the band released the EP Inner Universe . Aljoscha Sieg (Pitchback Studios) was hired for the production .

style

The music of Words of Farewell is often compared with greats of the Gothenburg metal scene , such as In Flames or Dark Tranquility, but also with Finnish genre greats such as Insomnium or Omnium Gatherum . The main features of the songs are the use of unusual, often two-part guitar arrangements, typical Death Metal growls and the pronounced use of keyboards and ambient elements.
