Hot Chip is a band from London founded in 2000 . The band mixes electronic dance music with elements of independent music . You are under contract with the independent label Domino Records .

history

After the band's formation in 2000 by Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard some were first EPs in Selbstverlag produced. In 2004 came the first album Coming on Strong on the London independent label Moshi Moshi . In 2006 the second album The Warning was released on DFA Records. It reached number 34 on the UK album charts, the single Over and Over reached number 32. The album was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and awarded Mixmag Album Of The Year 2006 . Over and Over was also named Best Single of 2006 by the New Musical Express . Hot Chip have also published an edition of the DJ Kicks series.

In 2008 the album Made in the Dark was released. The single Ready for the Floor reached number 6 on the UK singles chart and number 22 in Ireland.

Compared to other DFA Records artists, Hot Chip rely on relatively relaxed and poppy electronic music without explicit punk or techno elements.
