Dreadzone is a British band formed in 1993. Their music is an eclectic mix of dub , reggae , techno , folk and rock .

Since its inception, Dreadzone have released 6 studio albums and various live and compilation albums. The band's biggest hit was the 1995 single Little Britain , which rose to number 20 in the UK and number 63 in the singles charts in Germany.

history

The band was formed in 1993 by Greg "Dread" Roberts, drummer for Big Audio Dynamite , and musician and sound engineer Tim Bran. Roberts and Bran brought bassist Leo Williams and keyboardist Dan Donovan into the band.

After various single releases, the first studio album 360 ° was released on Creation Records in 1993. The second album, Second Light , was released in 1995 on the major label Virgin Records . In January 1996 Dreadzone had a chart hit in the United Kingdom and Germany with the single Little Britain . The following year the album Biological Radio was released .

Dreadzone recorded six peel sessions for John Peel between 1993 and 2001 . In 2000 MC Spee joined the band. In 2001 the fourth album Sound was released . The fifth album, Once Upon A Time, followed in 2005. On October 26, 2006, Greg Roberts' brother Steve died, who had supported Dreadzone as a guitarist in various live performances.

In 2007 Chris Compton and Chris Oldfield were announced as new band members. In 2009 the sixth studio album Eye on the Horizon was released . In 2011 the best of album The Best Of Dreadzone: The Good The Bad And The Dread was released .
