Simian Mobile Disco is an electro-pop band from England that was founded in 2005.
It consists of Jas Shaw and James Ford, two former members of the band Simian , which split up in 2005. Shaw and Ford are also successful as a producer duo and are best known for their remixes .
history
They have released a number of singles such as The Count on their Kitsune Music label, but are more into their remixes from bands such as Muse , Klaxons , The Go! Team , Air and others known. In 2006 her hit Hustler was released, which was supported vocally by the singer Char Johnson from New York .
Musically, Simian Mobile Disco are known for their highly stylized tracks (often with minimal instrumentation). There is a certain hook line (vocal or instrumental - see mix of Whoo! Alright, Yeah ... Uh Huh from The Rapture ) that repeats itself all along the way. In addition, there is often a breakdown (see mix of Magick by Klaxons) with noise, drums and sometimes synthesizers and vocals.
Simian Mobile Disco's debut album Attack Decay Sustain Release was released on June 18, 2007 on Wichita Recordings, including tracks Hustler, Tits and Acid , I Believe , Hot Dog and the single It's the Beat , which was vocalized by Ninja (The Go! Team) was supported.
In May they first appeared as a live act in England to promote their album. They also supported the Klaxons and The Chemical Brothers on their December 2007 tours.
On August 17th, 2009 Simian Mobile Disco released their second album Temporary Pleasure on Wichita Recordings , after the first single Audacity of Huge had already been released in May . Guests included Beth Ditto from Gossip and Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip .
