The operators and authors of the website are anonymous. The acronym Psiram is derived from Ps eudoscientific, Ir rational systems of belief, A lternative M edizin . Thematically, the four core areas of belief systems , bag tailoring , pseudosciences and pseudoscientific healing methods are viewed critically. The website has existed since 2007. Until July 2012 it was called EsoWatch .

reception

In 2010 Esowatch was presented in the computer magazine c't under the heading Websites aktuell . Accordingly, Esowatch is dedicated to the fight against superstition , charlatanry and pseudoscience, and the entries in the lexicon are extensively provided with sources and represent a "treasure trove for scientifically tenable arguments".

In 2012, shortly after the wiki was renamed Psiram, Michael Utsch from the Evangelical Central Office for Weltanschauungsfragen turned against the lack of transparency in an “Internet war over alternative medicine”. At Psiram he saw not only the differentiated information but also violent exaggerations and polemics . In addition, Psiram opponents would deliberately mislead users with similarly named offers such as “Psiram.de”, as was the case with EsoWatch before.
