Perkins Engines Company Ltd. is a British manufacturer of diesel and gas engines .

The company is based in Peterborough , UK . The production facilities are located there as well as in Stafford (Great Britain) and Curitiba ( Brazil ). Sales and service branches are available worldwide.

history

Frank Perkins , who opened a small machine factory on June 7, 1932 and was soon selling engines that he had developed himself, was the founder of the company. In 1959, it was sold to Massey Ferguson , but kept its brand name. Perkins has been part of Caterpillar since December 1997 ; the name Perkins was retained this time too.

Application in Germany

When it was launched, the VW LT van was offered with Perkins diesel engines. The Ford Transit MK2 also had a Perkins diesel engine with 64 hp at the beginning. Numerous agricultural and construction machinery were also equipped with Perkins engines.
