Garrard Manufacturing Company was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Ryland Street company in Birmingham began making bicycles in 1900 and motorcycles in 1902. There was initially a connection to Adolphe Clément from Clément & Cie , later Établissements Clément-Bayard . Until 1905 the brand name was Clement-Garrard , after that only Garrard . Automobiles were made in 1904 and 1911. Their brand name was Garrard . In 1911 the company was dissolved.

The models with single-cylinder engines delivered either 1.5  HP or 2 HP. There was also a model with a V2 engine and 3 hp.

Automobiles

The offer included tricycles with a single rear wheel. In 1904 it was forecars , with the passenger seat between the front wheels. A water-cooled engine with 4 HP power propelled the vehicle.

In 1911 there was a more modern design with a front engine and a wide bench seat for two people next to each other. A V2 motor drove the rear wheel via a cardan shaft . One example of the vehicle called Garrard Speke Sociable has been preserved.
