Charles T. Crowden was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Charles Crowden founded the company in Leamington Spa in 1898 and began manufacturing automobiles. The brand name was Crowden . Production ended in 1901.

Crowden made experimental vehicles, some of which he also sold. This included a car with a steam engine and a vehicle with a gasoline engine and 10 hp .

In 1900 he used a single cylinder engine with 5 HP in a vehicle . The engine power was transmitted to the drive axle by means of belts. The transmission had three gears. This vehicle has been preserved and belongs to the collection of the Museum of British Road Transport in Coventry .

He sold a steam engine fire engine to the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Company in Worcester and a gasoline engine to the Leamington Spa Fire Department.
