The Horner & Sons Ltd. was a British automobile manufacturer.

Company history

The London company began producing automobiles in 1904 . The brand names were initially Queen and QC and from 1905 Hornet (German: hornet) and Lenox . Production ended in 1907. The connection to the Lenox Autocar Company is unclear.

These were models with two-cylinder engines . The engines made either 12 HP or 16 HP. The original price was about £ 280 . The advertisement for these models read: The car for the million or the millionaire.

Brand names Hornet and Lenox

The cars were equipped with engines with a bore of 140 mm larger than their stroke of 100 mm. Such short-stroke engines were unusual at the time, almost all engines were long-stroke. The 9 HP had a two-cylinder in- line engine with 3078 cm³, which was mounted under the seat and powered the rear axle via a chain. The open body offered space for two people. The 18 HP had a four-cylinder in-line engine with 6160 cc. The original price was £ 263 . In the literature, the models 8 HP with a four-cylinder engine and 10 HP with a two-cylinder engine from Stevens and a body from Vincent are also mentioned.
