The Morgan & Company Limited was a British car manufacturer and wheelwright operation . There was no connection with Morgan Motor from Malvern Link .
Company history
The company was founded in London in 1795 to manufacture carriages . In 1886 the company moved to Leighton Buzzard . Later bodies for motor vehicles were created. In 1904 the production of automobiles began . From 1907 Morgan imported chassis from the Adlerwerke from Germany and provided them with their own bodies. During the First World War , the company manufactured aircraft fuselages for the Royal Air Force . After the end of the war, only bodies were made, etc. a. for Morriss-London . Production ended in 1929.
Motor vehicles
In 1904 a vehicle with an electric motor was created , which was called the Electric Motor Phaeton .
From 1905, Morgan manufactured luxury cars with four - cylinder built- in Mutel engines . Cubic capacities of 5200 cm³ and 5800 cm³ are mentioned. A special feature was the hydraulic Sparks-Boothby clutch, which was only used for the first five vehicles. Then a leather cone clutch, which was common at the time, was used. Production probably ended in 1907.
Bodies for eagles
Morgan manufactured u. a. Bodies on the chassis of the Adler KL 6/16 PS model , which appeared in 1913. Its four-cylinder engine had a displacement of 1554 cc and made 16 hp. What has been preserved is an Adler K 6/14 PS from 1910 with a double phaeton body. This vehicle is in the Aspang Automobile Museum in Aspang Market .
