Bennett & Carlisle Ltd. was a British automobile dealer and manufacturer .

Company history

The Manchester company was initially a vehicle dealer. In 1904 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Manchester , unofficially also Manch-Aster . Production ended in 1905. The company was still active as a dealer. The successor company Newton & Bennett imported vehicles from the Italian manufacturer Newton & Bennett from 1910 .

The company purchased built-in motors from Aster . The engines developed either 8, 10, 14, 20 or 30 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle by means of chains.
